If the Federal Minimum Wage had kept up with median home prices, it would be a lot higher. For 1980 parity, it would need to be $20.30. For 1970, $25.89. 1960? A whopping $35.12. And for 1940–1950 equivalence, it would need to be a staggering $42.52 per hour. It’s currently $7.25.
