I decided to cycle in the heat of Phuket and I wondered why the hell did I decide this?

The video is what happened, including a little chat about free will or lack thereof :)

PS: I spotted some cool art in this little tour if you are into that ;)

Why did I just decide to do this? A chat about free will while cycling in Phuket

Solar radiation would kill us if we didn’t have earth‘s magnetic field. Did you know Mars’ field has faded?

Earth‘s magnetic field is produced by liquid metal flows (convection) in its outer core: hot fluid rising and cooler fluid sinking. It’s like a giant dynamo.

If you want to learn a scientific or engineering field, you need to think in arrows (vectors). I wrote a gentle intro to it. No prereqs required.

This meal planning app I vibe coded on replit is low key useful. I’m trying to cook more and eat less processed food.

What it does:
I take an image of a recipe -> It extracts ingredients and saves

I make weekly meal plan -> It consolidates ingredients and checks (cont’d)

on intrinsic motivation

Rewarding task completion actually leads to worse intrinsic motivation. Rewarding showing up and giving it a good shot is more effective at fostering intrinsic motivation

Future conscious ais will likely not know what it feels to have a finite duration. They will probably not be shut off and so live very long.

So I wrote some words about finiteness for them. As you do 😃

Does rich consciousness require finiteness (death)?

watch this NOW

Vsauce proposes a view on our life at this moment in Time:

Dust specs which can leave a ghost trace

Was not possible for the 110 billion unknown people that have ever been born before

It’s lovely perspective. But better watch it and tell me whether it resonates or not

Nothing like a high interval run in 28-30c

Feel the limits!

The follow button and recommendation algos were a huge mistake. Should have done a simple connection graph based on 2/6 friendly people 3/6 weird but ok people to hang out with and 1/6 people unfriendly to one's own views.

There is a before and an after regular use of kettlebells in workouts.

Underrated how much you get done with them!

Get the bag and get bought out.

The recent NBA rule changes accelerated the resolution of bad contracts because teams can stretch the money owed and fall below the penalty thresholds on total salary.

It’s a great league for players!

TIL I learned there are different checkers rules and my Russian mother seems to have taught me American checkers and not Russian checkers 🤷🏻‍♂️

being kind of half Russian (Belarus!), this make me chuckle. Ahh that cold Russian resourcefulness and FU to the rest of the world!

I am liking Merz more and more

first: he is strong against Putin
second: he rejects the bureaucratic EU layer.

Let's have a European military alliance and economic zone which is decentralized. Remove the bureaucratic layers!!!

Einstein welded space and time into a 4D fabric, yet along a light-like path the spacetime interval is exactly zero.

Strap the best atomic clock to a photon and, no matter whether it leaves a quasar or reaches your pupils on a clear starry night, it never ticks even once.

This is a tree trunk turned into stone.

230 million years ago, it’s organic matter rotted. Then it was submerged in water and the organic matter was replaced by minerals, turning it into a stone.

Amazing!

In the US, dads often call their son “buddy”

Does this happen in your culture too?

I find it slightly amusing to not just say son
