I wouldn’t put him in the current starting 11 in the Championship, never mind blow however many million quid on him if we go up.

I’ve no ill will to the lad whatsoever. Was a big fan while he was here. He chose to leave. I get why. But it’s gone badly since and I’ve no interest in seeing him back.

Random late reply but this made it's way to the top of "the pile" (the never ending pile!) this week and I absolutely loved it mate. Fantastic work!

Although "Industrial Byproducts" has crushed me and I'm now sat here contemplating what to do with the rest of my life. So thanks for that, Ray. 😂

So good. Also, an all time album cover for me!

Got a tatty old t-shirt with it on that I got as part of some sort of pre-order bundle at the time that I just won’t let go. 😂

That has honestly never occurred to me about the album cover either until I just read this! 😂

I agree with what you say about it being their most coherent album. Won't Get Fooled Again is an all-timer of an album closer.

Reminds me of the Orson Welles quote on directors watching too many movies:

“The more virgin our eyes our the more we have to say - the most detestable thing in modern cinema is 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚!”

I don’t imagine he would have had a problem with Lynch!

Really beautifully, and incredibly insightfully, put.

Agreed on the hair too!

I’d certainly run at the sight of those fucking jeans.

Always used to irk me (on top of the rest of it) how much of a tosser he looked on the touchline.

Looking like someone’s embarrassing uncle you would bump into up town when you were younger, who still thought he was “one of the lads”. 😂

An all timer!

Neil’s run on the 1970s is pretty much unparalleled for me and this is right up there at the pinnacle of it.

That’s a well worn looking copy - love it!

Fits perfectly with the mood of the album too. Worn out, frazzled, a little worse for wear and embracing its imperfections!

I’m a huge fan of Neil and on board with almost everything he does, but I did draw the line at this.

The shape always seemed like a ridiculous design flaw to me.

Who wanted to be carrying that round in their pocket all day?

This sounds right up my alley - ordered!

👏

DOS-feratu.

I came up with that all by myself. And I didn’t even take Spanish anything!

What can I say? Just ending 2024 firing on all cylinders. 😂

As good a goal as we’ll score all season - lovely stuff!

Few better things in life than some free time and a nice box set to spend it with - one of my absolute favourite ways to pass a day!

Nobody has ever written about alcohol consumption in a way that is as relatable to me (at least not as consistently anyway) as Craig.

And I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing!
December 22, 2024 at 12:57 PM
It’s right up there for me too.

One of those albums that, even now, takes me RIGHT back to the time and place it came out. Like I can literally feel that younger version of myself again!

There are only a handful of albums I can listen to that do that to me.

Fantastic list!

Very minor critique - Hearts of Fire deserves inclusion purely for its depiction of Bob delivering the greatest haymaker in cinema history. 👊😂

Not many bands “made it big” with more aplomb than REM.

Alt-rock hero’s, sign to a major, become basically the biggest band on the planet, still effortlessly cool AF.

They always seemed comfortable with it. Never once felt like they were trying to be a single thing they weren’t. Super talented.

True, really happy we kept fighting, as it looked like we were getting nothing.

But long term, better 3 points than 1, and better going up automatic than chancing the playoffs again - And these are the sort of ones you look back on - It’s small margins!

We need to get a bit more consistent. 👊

Come on now, give the last SOME credit, did you not hear about how “bulked up” on loan last season in Germany?

He weighs all of about 7 stone now, you know. He can give it some right welly!
December 14, 2024 at 2:47 PM
Randomly gave this a spin for the first time in a long time yesterday - incredible record!

The Bielsa method. 😂

Patrick….

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” etc, so I’m just going to refrain!

Great track, great album, great movie.

Crazy to think this is 26 years ago and PE were ALREADY 5 albums/a decade plus deep!

“PE in full effect to the year 2000!”©️ @flavorflav.bsky.social

And here we are approaching 2025 and they are STILL in full effect! Their longevity is such a gift.
