I had a sensation of blood in the water when all three current SAMMI devs step down, now I think I know why.

So regardless of my current feelings with Streamerbot, I don't think I'll be returning to SAMMI. I have too many friends affected by this directly and indirectly by the AI craze that this feels like the start of something bad.

ChatGPT, OpenAI, Google AI now summarizing our searches, Flock cameras, art generation, needless stuffing of it into every facet of our life cause some c-suite thinks buzzword popularity necessitates its use and wants to become some legendary forerunner. The list is EXHAUSTIVE and EXHAUSTING!

All the scientific and potential good case scenarios buried under just unadulterated greed. So is it any wonder its such a divisive topic when time and time again we've seen it used for ill?

Sadly, when there's speculation of profits or cost savings involved, humanity tends to lemming off a cliff for the side of ill intent. Too often I've seen it used as a shortcut, a sales marketing gimmick, a labor force reduction tool, or a magical problem solving elixir that's totally not a placebo.

Now here's where I get a little more charged. Yes, in the end of the day, AI is just a tool (please god let it not develop actual sentience while we're in our "grift towards Skynet" arc) but that means it can be used for good and also for bad.

Queue the Benny Hill theme as my tired ass reads through dozens of comments, visual examples, and a few documents that have shed a little more light on the recent stepping down of three other SAMMI devs and needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed.

What I was met with was a circus on fire. Chrizzz , the remaining developer for SAMMI down had decided to roll back changes concerning monopolies on extensions and the use of generative AI in the extension presentation.

Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Memes aside, I checked to see the notifications was pouring in from SAMMI discord. My friend Zoen said they finally released the fix for Twitch Combos and the bridge so I figured either something else broke or the fix backfired after deployment.

SAMMI's community felt more inclusive. Streamerbot lacked some things I liked from SAMMI plus some extension solutions. That and I've been stagnating on coding, with time being a limited resource, sometimes I just wanted a solution than to solve a problem. So I debated going back to SAMMI.

I figured that would help me dust off my programming roots and maybe code things that the tool didn't have a solution for without a full blown extension. Yet at times I've felt tempted to go back.

I've admittedly not been using SAMMI for some time despite how popular it has been in my friend and streamer circles. Not cause I dislike the product but because at times the code blocks felt a little rigid to use but also because Streamerbot offered a C# option for coding my own things.
