Tiny Netflix Review: "Genie, Make a Wish." South Korean rom-com about a malevolent genie determined to corrupt and kill the reincarnated pure soul who trapped him in a bottle for 983 years. 2 Problems: 1) she is a psychopath (barely) socialized by her village and 2) he is falling in love with her.

Tiny PSA: This next one is for my melissophobic pals (not to be confused with melissaphobic, which is the fear of Melissa Joan Hart when she is lurking in her Hallmark habitat):

Tiny Stephen King Adjacent Book Review: King Sorrow, by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son). Ancient dragon summoned by 6 college friends to kill 2 bad people. They spend decades dealing with the (very horrible) consequences. Excellent characterizations. I learned the word egregore!

Tiny Ancient Song Rec: The epitath on the Seikilos Stele. The version below has the lyrics, but others have only the music. Regardless, it awes me that one of the earliest songs is not only comprehensible but moving and eternal. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdlF...

Tiny Shameless Promotion: The Otherland series, by Tad Williams is to be adapted for tv. The books are brilliant and prescient. A company called Platige is in charge of the effects.

Thought I knew most of the various literary genres. But in the course of refreshing my memory of The Borribles Trilogy, by Michael de Larrabeitti (think feral hobbits fighting internecine wars in a gritty version of London), I came across the term "the new weird." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_weird)

I have been non bluesky mentes for a very long time. Sure hope a few of you are still following. I wish I had a good reason for my absence. Mostly, I am just stupendously lazy. But I am full of Tiny Ideas now and eager to share.

Tiny Stephen King Book Review: Never Flinch. Worth every penny. It's a Holly Gibney Joint. That woman is a gunslinger. I could read 100 books about her.

There are 2 kinds of people: those who think singing "Sweet Caroline" during the 8th inning at Fenway is sweet, and those whose hearts are shriveled, neutrino sized pellets of hamster scat. Not to say that the miniscule hamster heart poop people are -wrong-, mind you.

Tiny Apple+ Review: Murderbot. The Preservation crew are portrayed as blithering idiot refugees from a Monty Python skit about commune hippies. One of them literally does not know which end of a laser pistol is the shooty part. Gah.

Have you heard the good news? They are discontinuing the minting of the penny (it costs about 3x as much as the face value)! Yay!! Frankly, however, since it costs 14 cents to make/distribute the nickel, I have Questions.

I am proving to be hilariously inept at making my bluetooth alarm clock connect to anything useful. So far, the best I can do is make it pair, then mysteriously unpair, with my headphones, like a dysfunctional couple in a Hallmark movie that cannot agree on whose music to listen to.

A friend sent me a giant list of Movie Tropes (e.g. bullet wounds to the arm are best treated with a sling). I have decided that the House Deep Cleaning can wait a while as I write a one act play entitled "Never Answer the Phone With Hello."

What I should be doing: bathroom deep cleaning. What I am doing: worldbuilding for my story about a disgraced Pinkerton's detective kidnapped by aliens to solve the heist of their Sacred and Wise Pebble by time traveling super evolved ravens. Will there be a cameo by Poe? Did you even need to ask?

Tiny Game Show Ideas: Jeopardy, but all the questions are rhetorical and must be sung in iambic pentameter.

I want to tell you about Kopi Luwak coffee, but first, do you find the poop geyser scene in RV hilarious or a mortal sin punishable by exile to the Oort Cloud?

I feel that I need to work the word "widdershins" into more conversations. Also, spinning around counterclockwise in the aisles of Target with a balloon in each hand has led to some interesting conversations.

My best friend had a procedure that helped. Once, there were many gods, tall as mountains, terrifying. Inscrutable. But I have always preferred the small gods, who save us incrementally. Today, I light a candle to these tiny infinities. They are under your feet. They love your every step.

Just in case you were wondering if I can write. Yeah. A little bit,

I am old.
But young, as light is
measured.
Verify infinity.
Quantify eternity.
Regardless,
I am always
lost, undefined.
I am one step
behind you. But I promise, I will
follow.

Today, bending with a river, I wondered.
Why isn't the world true?
Why aren't we?
Why are we not all tall and strong?
Then a twisted tree came into view and I understood.
We are variables in God's equation.
We are meant.
Then the road unknotted
and I forgot.

I once wrote a poem to commemorate the death by suicide of a woman I loved. If someone you love is in the abyss, look back. Please.

I kid around a lot. But I do not joke about pain. Any kind of pain. Lately, I am contending with stupid pain, e.g., stories/books I thought would be remembered. Today, I am aware of the death of a child.

Tiny Stephen King thoughts: I am reading the updated "On Writing' work of Mr. King. What he says rings true. I will not intrude my own musings. But this...,memory is everything, unless you can recall the pain.

Here's the thing. Nothing we take can be returned unchanged. My friends who accept my failures forgive. But I have done good, sometimes. I am proud and ashamed, in equal measure. I will try to do better. Your light, a color unsolved. Be patient I am on my way.
