NixOS is proving to be a step forward in linux for me in a way that Mint -> Kubuntu was not, Fedora was not, and Arch was not. NixOS competency development feels a hell of a lot less awful than the prospect of ever being an Arch person. Switching to Sway full time is impending. Getting dual boot […]

You need less evidence to test a theory the more complex it is, not more. Complexity is dependency and attack surface. It is additional points of failure. You will never need a counterfactual universe for a complicated theory. This is a fundamental epistemic error in eschatological and […]

Insane alt-right brain currently asserting itself to tell me that any man who sees trans women as women is obligated to be polyamorous with as many cis women as possible to prevent our descendants from being left alone in a future population where this attribute was self-selected against by all […]

Morality is more fundamental than humans, that is why humans have to care about it. It is not enormously more fundamental, but that doesn't really matter. The branch you're sitting on is as critically important as any earlier part of the tree.

Does my dignity depend on pain? Not suffering. It obviously doesn't depend on suffering, otherwise it would be slightly more consistent. But, does it depend on periodic, semi-random damage to my nerves? I feel like this is what is polarizing my spirit, the vacillating desire to get either […]

Seriously though, if Digimon Beatbreak stays this good it is at risk of being elevated to near Kino's Journey levels. Even right now, unfinished, it is on a trajectory to match Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo for me. Digimon has broken free of the gravity well of anime trash.

Digimon Beatbreak, Time Stranger, Wings of Fire Arc 4, and personal computers are my primary reason for living at the moment. Relationships also help a bit but as an adult, you know, everyone just sort of stops talking to each other. Pure animal spite is also a constant. Misplaced schizogenic […]

My intuitions are embarrassingly vague and surrounded by other kinds of error but their robustness is still trustworthy to me. I don't think one has to know much about how trains work, or what trains are, or to have ever seen a train before, to know that a train hurdling towards another train at […]

Mutual schizophrenic moment where a homeless personal started screaming about personal responsibility for the safety of mankind, triggering my own delusions of reference. Overall unpleasant, because I couldn't hear whether he said "you have no" or "you have a". Conjures feelings of these […]

Linux Tech Tips: _There was a recent thing from a major tech company where developers were asked to say how many lines of code they wrote, and if it wasn’t enough, they were terminated. And there was someone here who was extremely upset about that approach to measuring productivity because it […]

The purpose of almost everything I say, every observation, every heuristic, every explicans and explicandum, is to move towards a future where it is no longer true.

They keep asserting that there are more fundamental processes, beneath rights, that have to take place to ensure them. And. They know nothing about them.

"The Long March through the Institutions" must be understood as a hallucinated alternate hypothesis to moral realism as well as an indication that the dominant coordination strategy in the world is not only anti-moral, but cannot understand morality as an ineradicable, mechanically objective […]

Social contract theory is eminent domain applied to labor, and like eminent domain quickly becomes amplified by ingroup-outgroup dynamics and essentialist narratives of personhood. This obsession, formulation seems stupid at a glance because the people who express the pattern this way don't […]

Vulgar computationalist intuitions mostly reflect unconsidered dualism, with the mind being software and the body being hardware. But there is probably not a clean delineation. And inconsideration for the part of mind within body, which for all I know is all of it, has caused some possible past […]

Extreme syntactic competence and diligence ensures precision. But in a sufficiently adversarial environment, it also pretty much guarantees innaccuracy. And that is worse than imprecision with accuracy in a context where only examples can help correction.

I’m halfway through Dragon Rage (PS2). This game looks awful. It is a weird mixture of Drakengard 1 tier grimdark story and setting, and two dimensional sacharrine characters more befitting of an edutainment game, or a Dora the Explorer character or something. Just, there have been ten thousand […]
