I've watched big strong contractors melt down into sloppy affectionate puddles when faced with my 5lb Yorkie.
There are two key things I can think of that would truly honor the bravery and sacrifices of veterans:
1. Take care of them once they've given up their health and well being to the job.
2. Stop making war.
