If he really is this high off his own supply of AI compute scaling madness, I can understand how he might see this making sense, as opposed to Mars for which there exists literally zero economic reason to colonize.

To be fair to Elon (a courtesy he's never extended to anybody but we should extend to him on principle), there is at least *a* theoretical business case for building a moon city. It's a business case which makes no goddamn sense (building and launching lots of groklinks), but it does at least exist.

A cull would also be preferable to *novel predator introduction,* something that some of these people appear to be advocating for in serious enough terms that the Catalina Island Conservancy felt the need to directly address it on their website

Also note that the black rat eradication program on nearby Anacapa Island was not met with anywhere near this level of discourse, with the reason for why being obvious.

There is also apparently a conspiracy theory that this microscopic winery with 0.65mi^2 of vineyards (seemingly the pet project of Allison Wrigley, who's family owned the island a century ago) is THE REAL REASON the Conservancy which manages the island wants to eradicate the deer

Personally I'm of the opinion that Delta will never fly. The expected flight date for Delta has always very conveniently been pegged to the quarter when they run out of money.

I mean kinda yeah but also on the other hand always has been? The only company that's ever been actually serious about being centered on making space accessible has been Virgin Galactic and calling Virgin Galactic "serious" about anything is probably way too generous
