NINTENDO FAN BLUEY MAKING THE ROUNDS on social media recently was the screenshot seen above - an image instantly recognizable to any of you parents or grandparents out there with young children in your lives, but maybe a mystery to our other readers. So, if you don't know already, this is a scene from Bluey. Bluey is an absolutely extraordinary cartoon made for kids. It's so charming, so heartwarming and so perfectly wholesome that I think it may be impossible to dislike — it's just that good! It's genuinely the best children's cartoon I've personally ever seen, and after having been a father for over a decade now and after adding in all the memories of shows I'm still able to recall from my own childhood, that's high praise indeed. So I didn't think I could love Bluey any more - and then I saw this screenshot. You'll need to have a bit of knowledge of Fire Emblem: Three Houses to get the gags, but printed on two of the boxes in the background are "Dimitri" and "Claude" ... two of the main characters from Three Houses! Edelgard's name also pops up about two seconds later, as Bluey's Mom continues pushing her pups forward in the shopping cart. Dimitri and Claude are the funniest inclusions, though, because Claude's name appears to be upside-down (a reference to Claude himself being upside-down on the game's box art), and Dimitri is spelled "Dmitri" (so it's missing an "j" - a reference to, well, kind of a story spoiler, but his eyepatch-wearing promo art that was released back when the game came out helps connect those two easy dots). What does all this mean? Bluey has team members working on it who are Nintendo fans, and who gave parents watching alongside their kids this fun Easter egg to find! Thus making a great show even greater. Have you ever seen Nintendo references snuck into other shows before? Keep an eye out! — LUCAS P.S.
