I think just informally, so many kids from Des Moines metro go there that it’s probably who you know that might be going at the same time sort of thing

Yeah I wouldn’t call intercity bus lines regional transit. Also much more likely to be severely delayed.

There's also sadly no regional transit connection between Des Moines and Ames. I've always wondered about the Ames number since Citynerd posted about it, being on foot there doesn't feel like a high ridership community but the data is there. Almost all university driven I assume.

Any idea how compares to other college systems? Wonder how much remote learning and online classes is depressing student ridership

Office is tough as much of the development is tied to university ecosystem and most locate to the research park south of town. Downtown retail might have legs now that they are getting rid of the trash burning power plant right next to it!
