It’s just that play to me has always been . . . or the way that the techniques that are used with that play, to me have been potentially contrary to the health and safety of the players. And so again, you have to go back though in fairness to the injury data on the play, but I just think the optics of it, I’m not in love with.”

In the updated proposal, pushing or pulling a runner "in any direction at any time" or lifting him to his feet would be banned, which offers a broader stance harkening back to the ruleset from the league's start through 2005, as noted by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. Therefore, if passed, the tush push would be banned along with any play in which a runner is pushed, pulled or lifted. Hence the proposal is now purposed as banning "assisting the runner." Penalty: For assisting the runner, interlocking interference, or illegal use of hands, arms, or body by the offense: Loss of 10 yards.

In either instance, the Members proposing the changes shall retain sole discretion on the wording of such changes.” What this means is that any member of the Senate Democratic caucus can bring a challenge to Schumer’s continued leadership up for a vote. They would only need a majority of the caucus, or 24 of the 47 members, in order for the vote to succeed.
