Didn't Platner say in a fairly recent reddit comment that he's a communist? The tattoo thing subsumed that story, but I really don't think that he's going to be anything other than a fairly progressive senator.

Do you have any recent, real examples of Jacobin exhibiting this type of attitude? A Jacobin writer probably wouldn't put that type of sign in their yard, but they obviously don't hate the type of person who would put that type of sign in their yard.

The logic that the U.S. empire uses to justify the slaughter of civilian populations is remarkably similar to the logic the Trump administration is using against civilians in America. Emphasizing this connection would be the most productive way to approach this discussion.

The normalization of mass civilian death at the hands of the U.S. and its allies isn't new at all unfortunately and I'm of the belief that this contributes to the normalization of domestic human rights abuses as well.

The healthcare plan itself wouldn't be a downgrade, it proposes zero costs to the patient outside of taxes. The largest political issue by far is the size of the tax increase, but the unions are also concerned that there won't be as much incentive to join unions without employer health plans.

Personally, I'm a bit skeptical about the whole "AI is going to take everyone's jobs" thing but the electricity price thing is quickly proving to be very real, so I think he's basically right in a way.
