Next week I'll be at UK Games Expo! Looking forward to meeting my gaming friends ☺️ if you see me say hello!

With the heavy mist of nebula dust around them, in the far reaches of barely civilised space a mechanical fault is about to spark a chain reaction of events that leave the entire sector hanging in the balance.

Attention all space game geeks. What are your favourite ship minis?

I have plans to make my own ship design into a 3d model, so that PnPers with 3D printers can get a perfect match with the ship from the game, but I'm always on the lookout for games or minis I could point to.

I've been working with artists from MiTale Games, Ira Sarsila, Aissa Nylund, and Maria Hänninen.

Together they have taken my previous prototypes to new heights including this amazing cover design. I love the retro futuristic vibe that matches so well with the gameplay! 😍

In the latest installment of "microgames that fit on an airline tray table" we have Gloomhaven: Buttons and Bugs. This delightful adaptation condenses the rich strategic gameplay of the original, implementing them in just about the smallest package possible.

This week I put together my *ultimate* collection that fits into a Kallax cube. As a Microgame aficionado I managed to get 45 games in, including some heavier games and lots of variety.

Full post on my website:
(microdotgames.com/2025/03/03/t...).

What games would go into your one-cube collection?

In Hanabi you work together to play your card in order, without ever seeing your own cards.

Walk the tightrope between giving information and running out of clues.

My favourite part is seeing a team uncover the subtlety of when, why, and why not give a clue, and what that infers.

The hardest, funniest simple game I've played.

Pass this item around the table and declare what it is. Or... Forget what it was and try to sound confident and you try and grasp at something that hasn't been claimed for a while.

Getting it wrong has never felt so fun.

Combine two words on the table so your teammates can guess in time.

Sounds simple, but each element has a few combinations on the table, making it tricky to set them apart.

Play with a smaller grid, and without the timer for a more chill experience.

The Exit the Game series always keeps you on your toes, with the most innovative puzzles you'll see in an at-home escape room experience.

Sometimes you literally have to think outside the box!

The mini version of Herd Mentality fits nicely here.

Think of the same things are everyone else and you'll do well, otherwise you'll get stuck with the pink cow of loneliness.

Great for inciting family arguments about who has the correct opinion.

This Button Shy game blew my socks off. It's so smooth and clever.

You and your opponent have the same set of room cards, as you sneak around a building full of traps and secret hiding spots.

Shoot your enemy in an adjacent room if you think they're there, and dare to give away your location.

The novelty factor of this game coming in a crinkly plastic bag is almost worth it alone, but the fact there's a solid game underneath makes it a no-brainer.

Gradually pull chips from the bag, while deciding which of your cards to keep for scoring, and which one will be negative.

Another honourable mention that comes highly recommended.

This wallet game from Button Shy sees everyone receiving a glass of wine, but which ones are poisoned?

Keep your glass or swap with someone else as you try to second guess the poisoner, or triple guess?

Echoes is a fascinating series of games perfect for the amateur sleuth in your life.

Each card represents a snippet of sound, the sonic echo of the past.

Piece them together to discover more story, and perhaps unveil the mystery.

Hex Roller combines route building, adjacency and dice drafting in a simple but strategic package.

Pick a group of a single number and draw them into your hexes, while keeping an eye on these conflicting scoring conditions.

Welcome to my 2024 holiday gift guide!

I start with an honourable mention on my wishlist: the Holiday Hijinks series.

These holiday themed micro escape rooms use just a handful of cards to create an puzzle experience you can fit in your pocket (or in your stocking!)

Playing one of the scenario maps today. This one gives a literal twist to the game, which turns the action selection puzzle up to 11. Not for beginners!
