Companies that spread fear of AI most likely do it because they want regulations in place to hinder competition in the field while they develop the next big version. Otherwise, why would you want to cripple your own corporation?

Propaganda works. A good, though complicated, book to read is "Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst" by Robert M. Sapolsky. Simple propaganda that instills fear, anger, and a division of us vs them seems to work best.

Why so much US debt? Let's blame the switch between Keynesian economics to supply side economics put into place by Ronald Reagan. It is based up on a theory by Arthur Laffer that there is an optimal taxation level that will maximize tax revenue. The birth of Reaganomics! They decreased taxation.
