Ump was pretty bad all night, bad but pretty consistently bad to both sides. But this at bat wasn’t one of them.

All of the other games contained at least one opposing pinch hitter who didn’t strike out.

Therefore Yesavage is the only pitcher in World Series History to strike out every member of the opposing team’s lineup at least once.

And the pitch before it was a ball.

Counterpoint to that is the jays now have the most rested long man available for today’s game as Bassitt threw 8 pitches.

Agreed, horrible pitch choice and location but otherwise sound decision.

Looks like MLB did a little write up on how cWPA works using Springer as the example. This should help explain it.
Is Springer the best playoff performer ever? This metric says so
Could George Springer be the most valuable postseason performer ... ever?

That’s a really good question. Let me see if I can find an article explaining it. But the 39% number is within the game. So Springer’s homer raised the Jays’ changes of winning the game up to 77% from 42%. I remember a really good article I think on bbref that explains it well.

This is championship WPA not game WPA:

cWPA -- Championship Win Probability Added for Offensive Player
Given average teams, this is the change in probability, displayed in percentage points.
A change of +/- 100% would indicate one world series win added or lost.

They’ve actually done 2-3-2 since 1905 (and 1985 for the CS), the biggest change was the DS going to 2-2-1 in 1998 after being 2-3 when it was incarnated in 1995.

Took me a while to find it but 2014. Jays played 29 innings at home vs Detroit, 10 on Saturday, 19 on Sunday then flew out to Seattle and lost 11-1, then 6-3 then 2-0.

Wow. Would be total karma!
October 11, 2025 at 3:56 AM
Jays scored 3, 4, 3 vs Seattle in Toronto in April when they were still kind of figuring things out and they scored 6, 6, 9 at the beginning of May, to bring them up to .500 at the end of that series. Not sure if kryptonite is the word you’re looking for.

Totally agree, a run saved is worth the same as a run scored as long as you’re not scoring 0 runs.

You can change up the roster between rounds without needing to replace injured players but within the round, only injury replacements are possible. And the injured player isn’t available for the next round.

As a former umpire, I would have to strip down to get the gear on and I wore lycra long johns and different pants and that would accommodate the shin guards. Maybe not a 20 min endeavour but not 5 mins either especially if I want to be comfortable for a whole game with no fabric bunching, etc
