Precipitation / Atmospheric River starting to move up the Island. It is cold enough for sleet and snow to fall. If you are driving today, be careful, watch for switching modes of rain, sleet and snow. It’s going to be messy all day. Christmas Day should be calmer […]

Dramatic skies for the penultimate sunset before the shortest day and solstice tomorrow. (Winter Solstice occurs at 7AM Dec 21 PST)

raining, sun, clouds, sleet if you're a little higher up... but it's 5°C. Typical Winter in the West Coast :)

Heavy rain right now in #portalberni but there is sleet and slush on the Hump and Sutton Pass webcams. Highway 19 at #qualicum looks ok. We have officially reached West Coast winter driving season. Expect sloppy, slippery conditions, rain, snow or something in […]

There is a little bit of snow on the side of the road at Taylor River near Sutton Pass. Be careful today! Doesn’t look like any other cameras have snow on the South Island but that could change.

You can find local webcams and drivebc cams quickly on the webcam page at Alberniweather.

Depending where you are in the Valley, there may be flurries! But rain or drizzle is more likely if anything at all. Radar is showing a light mix possible over the Island. The mountains will be relieved! Most of the action is at higher elevations, not sea level […]

Plenty of rain still to come for the South Island but the back of the frontal system is sliding down the Island. Near Port Alberni now, so that should be the end of this round once it gets to you!

Close to record-breaking temperatures for December 15 in #PortAlberni. If the Airport hits 14ºC and the Harbour 16ºC, we’d be there. 1976 was 13.3ºC and 15.6ºC at Valley and Harbour stations respectively.

Note: In the entire history of the two earliest stations at Beaver Creek (1900-1958) a few […]

Unfortunately my rain gauge seems to be on the fritz... however, reports from weather friends in #portalberni are that they are nearing 110mm over the past 24 hours. The Airport measured 42mm for the 14th. I would expect more than that today.

And oh ya, get out the T-Shirts, it's 15ºC! :+) […]

“Rain at times heavy mixed with drizzle" for the West Coast today. Possibly the most West Coast of all weather forecasts.

Put another way... even if it's not “raining" you'll still be getting fully moisturized. lol
