Feels harder this year. I don’t know why. Maybe because she’d be 75 and that’s a milestone? Maybe because Trump has survived and she didn’t. It‘s her fourth birthday gone. I thought I’d be “over it” by now, I guess.

I think I’ve finally pegged what feels familiar about “Wood”: it’s not quite the outro to Hot Chelle Rae’s “Tonight Tonight” but it sounds like it would slot in perfectly.

If there’s a guitar specialty shop by you it might be worth asking them? If nothing else you could probably go and jam on a mandolin there for a couple hours. My partner plays mando and has tried violin so the skills are pretty transferable although I think the double strings on mando take a minute

I def feel like TTPD is a Right Time kind of album for a lot of people, esp if you get into that emotional headspace and it provides comfort. Midnights was weirdly that for me because of when it came out. I do like some of TTPD and want to give it a second chance, especially in comparison to TLOAS.

Also a lot of calling other women bitches?? When the crux of the whole Kanye thing was that she did not agree to be called “that bitch,” but now she’s just throwing it around? Using it about women whose “men looked at her wrong” in a bar? Didn’t she rewrite a song not to slutshame? What the hell

Overall just a stunningly mediocre-to-bad album, and makes me want to give Poets another goddamn chance because she did at least put her entire ass into it. It needs substantial editing but there were feelings there. TLOAS is as deep as a sheet of paper and just as flimsy.

After a day I’m taking Eldest Daughter out of consideration because that first verse bothers me the more I think about it. Title track has some lame rhymes but at least Sabrina’s there. A lot of melodies feel cribbed from other songs — the end of Wood is very familiar but I can’t peg the exact song.
