We ended up buying a nice spiral ham at the commissary and threw it in the freezer for Christmas. We bought half a cow in February, but I subbed organ meat for the dogs for gourmet cuts, and honestly, Christmas this year is just me and the husband, so it’s not worth doing a roast.

When my girls were in high school, my youngest fell asleep on her charging phone while we were having a storm in North Carolina, and lightening struck the house and she got a bad burn from it. It was such a fluke. It was really hard to explain at the ER.

Ahhh I get it now. Sorry. I misunderstood. I’ve lived in cities, the burbs and rurally. Being rural is my final choice, we bought a homestead for retirement, but mostly because cities cause me too much anxiety, and I prefer a slower pace. But our community here in rural Colorado is tight tight.

Rural or suburban? I find rural communities are tight because we rely on our neighbors a bit more. That’s been my experience. Suburban life is hell, but I love rural life.
