It was definitely weird when I was a staffer for the Rudd and Gillard Governments and I'd walk past the National Party Whip's office on the way to the Senate chamber and see my grandfather's name was on the scroll of past National/Country Party Senators! But yes, I wish I had the chance.

He died a few months after I was born, so I never got the chance to question him about his participation in these events (which I would describe as profoundly anti-democratic). But the vast majority of my family remain Conservative, and continue to defend his actions to this day.
