still riding the high of seeing a loon, my favorite bird, pop up before me and let loose its distinctive call while on my swim yesterday. I have been swimming year-round at this beach for years and have never once seen a loon there. I didn't get a picture, so take this instead

popping back in to drop off a Laverne update for the gang. she had a checkup on her heart murmur (it’s stable!) and now she’s missing a patch of fur.

I went kayaking for the first time this weekend and immediately used my newfound powers to finally get some decent pictures of loons

last year I spotted a juvenile black-crowned night heron at a local pond and hoped so hard I would eventually see an adult. and FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In honor of West Virginia Day, I would like to flex my Golden Horseshoe award. For my non-WV folks: 8th graders in WV take a test about WV history and those who score the highest get knighted at the state capitol. You get this little Golden Horseshoe pin and eternal flexing rights
