I co-wrote a Beach Boys special that Lorne Michaels produced for NBC in 1976. I got to know Brian Wilson but found myself mostly studying him. A tortured genius whose songs are a cornerstone in American pop culture. Hopefully he’s finally at peace.

Last night’s SNL concert at Radio City was amazing: Lady Gaga, Jelly Roll, Snoop Dogg, Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne, Jack White, 78-year-old Cher (who was amazing!), Mumford and Sons, B-52’s, Devo, Elvis Costello. Robin danced in the aisle, I clapped a lot. #SNL50
