In the 1912 presidential election, after being exposed for outright lying about a meeting with Harper’s Weekly publisher, Col. Harvey, Woodrow Wilson’s campaign called critical newspapers “enemies of the people.” Hmm. Read about it in this excellent critique of Wilson.

Two Netflix documentary series - highly recommend. Big take-away: Expertise, wisdom, awareness of history are just a few essential qualities needed by those in charge of defense & intelligence services.
