John Tesh welcomed the NBA back to NBC this morning am on the Today Show by playing his iconic theme song live FOR THE FIRST TIME. He insisted on a real string section and I love him for that. My boss wife Rebecca filmed this.

Happy Birthday Jerry Garcia. I bet he never could have imagined his impact and continued ascendance decades after his death. Check out my story on the inside story behind this iconic image of him at the Egyptian Pyramids.

A free afternoon in Cleveland before a family wedding meant a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with my brother David and sister Laura, my first musical compadres, and checking out the Allman Brothers. Their exhibit space is rather disappointing, but overall pretty cool spot to be sure.

I am so sad about the fire tearing through the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, destroying the historic hotel and closing trails. I have hiked the GC twice, once from the North and once from the South. Fantastic experiences.

RIP Dave “Cobra” Parker, a phenomenal player and my childhood fave. He had charisma, rock star attitude and diamond earrings. I loved him and in Pittsburgh Little League we fought for #39. His memoir “Cobra” is wonderful. His HOF election was belated but I am very happy it happened!

Happy 52nd anniversary to Chuck and Roselane Leavell, one of the all-time great rock and roll couples.

They met when Roselane was working in the Capricorn Records Office and she was a fascinating, insightful source for "Brothers and Sisters.”

Madison Square Garden “hot summer,” 1977. This was also the Summer of Sam. Son of Sam, Reggie Jackson, the blackout. Hot in many ways. ELP Playing three nights was an eye opener for me. I’d go see any or all of these shows.

I am on my way to Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs NY for my daughter’s graduation.

On May 15, 1971, the Allman Brothers Band played a free show at Skidmore. Several different photographers were shooting at this show and there are a lot of great ones. This photo by Lee Edgecomb.
