Just a humble old Scotsman trying to make it through this life to the next
Part time Whisky shop sales monkey
Lover of scratchy vinyl records, fly fishing and the natural world
Writer of works in progress
I grew up in a house that only listened to jazz. I shared a bedroom with my father's vast vinyl collection
First time I heard the Clash they were like a breath of fresh air, just 3 chords and the truth

I'm the same, it's a breath of fresh air from twitter and that's all that really matters.

I definitely have that kicking about my collection somewhere. Might give it a spin some time

Massively underrated album.
My go to 'play full volume whilst cleaning the house' record. There is a wee 54th anniversary tour later in the year which should be great

Not strictly true. A lots of bands could actually play
The music was 3 chords and the truth
They didn't need to showboat & audience didn't want to hear it
If you deconstruct a tune like Another Girl Another Planet today youve a pop song with a 32 bar intro
You need to understand music to write that

In 1979 you had Cut, the Slits first album and Gang of Fours Entertainment in September
The debut album from Specials in Oct. Setting Sons came out in Nov and to top all that you got London Calling in Dec
It turned me into a skint 17 year old, but also the person I am today
What a time to be alive

Reflexes of a mongoose with the haircut to match.
Brilliant player.

A few years ago I inherited my dad's vinyl collection. He'd been buying records since the 50s
This was one of the first ones I played and I absolutely loved it
I'm not a huge jazz fan, just kind of learning as I go, but I have 1000s of vinyl records to work through

There are so many amazing indi bottlers working out of Leith, Woodrows, Fragrant Drops, Woven, Gleann Mor ect
Some of the bars around the port have embraced the indi scene big time
I love going down there and finding real gems on the gantries

SMWS used to be great fun. When I lived in Leith in the 90's it was a braw place to drink
Now if you ever find yourself down the port head for Nauticus, Bowlers Rest or Mother Superior, all offer far more interesting indi drams at better prices, plus the clientele are way cooler
