I like that perspective; it seems particularly apt when going through rapid change. However, after trust is built, conflict subsides and things settle, it seems best to optimize for information flows in pathways that are most critical.

The richness of the ecosystem you needed to live in (at least in enterprise SaaS). Keeping on top of the landscape is a job in itself.
