The first thing that came to my mind after reading your post was Frank Kelly’s song from 1980…

Since PoliticoEU took over the European Voice a number of years ago, I have pretty much stopped reading it.

From a Brussels perspective:

They exclusively use USAian terms like Staffers (civil servants), Law Makers (MEPs), etc.

And, AND, the EU site only uses the stupid MM/DD/YYYY date format.

Just had a bottle (or two) this evening, and it’s delicious.

Gorgeous beer.

Thanks for the tip.

I think a lot of this type of attitude comes from the fact that in the UK, if you move house you don’t need to register your new address at the town hall.

They move to the EU, and this idea is totally alien to them. So they don’t do it, and then fall foul of the law.

I would like to see Ireland join Schengen, because it’s a pain in the hole having to go through passport control there and back every time I go to Ireland from Belgium: it adds needless and unnecessary delays.

We can’t join because the UK previously wouldn’t and won’t (because, reasons).

I read something on Reddit from a source at Flightradar24 saying that because of the GPS jamming, the satellite data regarding speed and altitude are also inaccurate, so in reality, the plane might have been more stable than we’ve seen on the flight trackers.

Brilliant film. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve been wanting to watch it since it came out.

An hour after I suggested that they use the president.ie domain, they changed it.

Fair fucks to them.

Yay.

Thank you for such a quick response to my reply on the original non-verified and now deleted) post suggesting to move the account to the President’s official domain.

Dear President,

To ensure that people know that you are actually the president and it’s not a , you can create your profile with your official @president.ie domain.

I’ve been having this argument for years.

These days, the only acceptable use of the word expat is for people who are sent abroad by their employers for a fixed period of time, and generally have their housing and schools paid for. Eg: diplomats or company executives.

I’m an immigrant, and proud.

Is it because of the cooked onions and garlic that stuffing is dangerous?
December 17, 2024 at 8:12 PM
I would assume so.

Before Brexit, Ireland was second worst.

I prefer physical books. But I have way too many of them. So I read ebooks, and if something stands out I’ll buy the physical copy to keep and reread.

I also listen to audio books when I’m driving. I’ve been know to sit in the car at my destination to continue listening to the end of a chapter.

I can’t believe how much coverage it’s getting. Everywhere!

That’s the problem. They are so scarce that people don’t know what they are. And those that are there (the top of rue de la Loi) are always full of cars blocking everything.

Belgian junction design is terrible. Driving standards are deplorable. And the result is gridlock like this.

One quick and easy solution would be to implement the yellow junction boxes and cameras to automatically fine people.
