Thanks Shawn! I loved the way you incorporated gears on your vault, and I particularly liked that you had a clear trigger point for the gears starting/door opening, it made the cinematic more complete. (As a side note, your camera work was very visually appealing, and worked out really well).

Thanks! I just checked out your final cinematic. It came together so well, and it definitely looks epic! I know you put a lot of work into the modeling/shading, and it really paid off!

I took the feedback from the last submission to improve the cinematic. I also added the character interaction to the scene. I will need to fix/replace the steam particle. There are a few other adjustments I plan to make.

My cinematic is still very rough and will need work, but here is the progress.

I added sound, which I think does help, but the real effect will come with the camera shots. I also extended the gears turning through to the end and added steam particles to the door opening.

After many hours of work, here is the current progress. From this shot, it is very hard to see the door unlocking as the movement of the locks is very subtle. I'm hoping camera work will make it visually clear. I also think sound design will help. I plan to add rising steam when the doors open.

I've had a very busy few weeks, so I'm playing catch-up on this next assignment. I want to use gears to unlock the door, and maybe a gear and rope pull to open the door. My thought was to place this is an old castle corridor and have the doors open to a small room with treasure chests and crates.

Here is the final result. I enjoyed the process of finding ways to create the interactions that I wanted. These basic building blocks for interactions allow for so many possibilities.

Here is my progress on assignment 2. I haven't yet added the sound effects, and I'm having difficulty changing the focus on the rendering camera. The changes I make to the camera in the details panel don't translate when I hit "play". However, I'm happy with my progress.

Here is the final product (for the moment, at least). I enjoyed the process of creating in Unreal. My laptop was struggling, and learning to smoothly navigate the 3rd person camera was a minor challenge, but overall, I've learned quite a bit as I explore Unreal for the first time.

Here is a short video of my current progress on set dressing. The FPS on my laptop is rather slow, but it seems okay-ish for now. I'll look into pruning some of the trees.

Here is my current block out on set dressing in unreal. I am new to unreal, so I am still familiarizing myself with the basics. I anticipate this project will develop as I receive new inspiration, begin placing assets, and become more comfortable with unreal.
