He didn’t know about the idea of claiming asylum. That’s why he heard the phrase ‘asylum seekers’ he thought (in his words) they were sending criminals and mad people from asylums.

If I were American, I would be terrified by the fact that it looks as if the US military is now employed by a private individual not the government. That might be an exaggeration, but it seems to be moving that direction.

Even though their profits are soaring, they will fight tooth and nail to keep the completely irrational coupling to gas.

As far as I can see all it does is hugely inflate their profits.
