In the future as a PA I never want my patients to feel judged or stressed when coming for help with their lifestyle choices. I always wanna be there to help my patients understand that your bad habits don't make you a bad person and balance is important!#BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social
We talk about what to eat, but less about how we think about it. The stress, judgement & fear around food choices aren’t just exhausting—they make eating decisions harder. We don't think as clearly. We default to habits & jump to conclusions... That’s probably not helping anyone eat better.

As a future PA my #1 goal will be to incorporate balance in all my patients lives. To ensure them that you can enjoy life while eating whole foods and having the things you love. Life isn't supposed to be full of restrictions a healthy balanced life is achievable! #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social

The best parts of thanksgiving is the leftovers!!! #BEH353
I had leftover pie for breakfast with oats. Then I had leftover pie at lunch with whipped cream. And I'm planning on having leftover pie with ice cream at dinner. The key here is variety. Follow along for more food tips. 🥧

I love thanksgiving because my family uses it as an excuse to also eat our classic middle eastern recipes like my favorite grape leaves! I do also love mashed potatoes and mac&cheese! I love how in my thanksgiving we have all the things we love as well as classics! @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353

When it comes to get getting them to have a balanced diet is so important but even more than that getting them to have a healthy relationship with food is also so important. You never need to make them feel restricted or uneasy about certain food groups instead let them try new things! #BEH353
We love to give diets a name; people love to create communities around them. People form factions to advocate for and against them. Quite often, this does more to harm than help.

Helping kids build healthy habits starts early. This is an aritcle form my plate! www.myplate.gov/life-stages/... I chose it because it is from a trusted government resource, easy to understand, and gives real examples parents can follow every day. @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353

Tom Carrols story really made me think how life is all about making small changes that work for you. Incorporating things you like makes all the difference in the world but when your making sudden 360 changes in your life your goals feel impossible. #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social

I think this is so important people in all shapes and sizes deserve the same level of respect and empathy and that really relates to this weeks topic!!!

After people lose a lot of weight, their bodies can still fight to regain it because their metabolism can permanently slow down, like in The Biggest Loser study. It shows obesity is more about biology than willpower. As a future PA, I’ll focus on empathy, not judgment. #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social

I agree fully and I feel this really connects to my topic this week. Being a student and part time worker as well as a commuter your lifestyle and diet will never be perfect and you have to be ok with that!
There is no “one right way” to eat. Healthy eating is not about being perfect for a day or a few months. Your lifestyle will always be a work in progress. Consequently, making dietary changes is something you commit to for the rest of your life.

Every week there is some new food myth to contend with.  Whether you see or hear it on television, radio, magazine covers or a social media feed, it can lead to confusion. "Influencers" who offer nut...

Unhealthy diets with friends and family can be so hard! In school all my friends constantly want fast food and at home middle eastern food can be so heavy everyday. For balance I like to either pack my own food or pair food from home with more greens and nutrients! #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social

I learned about Nature Made Vitamin D3. It supports bone, muscle, and immune health by helping the body absorb calcium. Many people are deficient, but taking too much can be harmful due to hypercalcemia. It showed me that balance matters when it comes to supplements. #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social

Relating this to what I discussed this week, nutrition is made out to be such a stresfull topic when in reality nutrition is just meant to make us feel good. Food choices and habits shouldn't be exhausting or feared they should be something that excites you and makes you feel good!

Food is a connection to your mood and reminds you the importance of nutrients reminding us food is fuel and what you put into your system affects more than weight, but also the way your brain thinks hence why its important to fuel your body with whole nutritious foods! #BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social

Connecting this to my Keto diet I often wonder if low carb is better than no carbs? Low carbs can still give you some energy from carbohydrates without completely restricting yourself making the diet somewhat manageable. But each body is different! #Beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Keto diet is a low carb, high fat diet cutting out carbs. It results in rapid weight lost mostly by the loss of water weight and glycogen loss.It can lower your appetite and have other benefits but also has a risk of increasing LDL(bad cholesterol) risk for heart disease. @beh353.bsky.social #Beh353

I always try to include fruits and veggies in every meal, not only to keep it nutrient dense but for health factors in my body as well as preventing future possible diseases!!! I also love fruits and veggies!! #Beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
People who consume more fiber from fruits and vegetables and unsaturated fatty acids have a 15% lower risk of colon cancer. #fiber #vegetables #coloncancer #colonhealth #unsaturatedfats www.healthday.com/health-news/...

Usually for go to meals If I have grilled chicken at home I will make the meal nutrient dense by adding lots of veggies, cottage cheese, a wrap for some carbs and pair it with electrolytes, and maybe some fruit or nuts in order to keep me satisfied!! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I love this post and it really helps me with my daily life it reminds me that food is something to enjoy, to try knew things and to not only stick to what I know. I love finding and trying my culture within food. I hope in the future to really branch out in my nutrition and foods that I eat.
Pav is my fav part of the Xmas feast. I'm not going to feel bad for the sugar and the cream. NOT because the fruit 'balances it out' because pavlova is my memories of my mum, my childhood, because I make it with my family, because it tastes good. No guilt needed.

After I've tracked everything that I've eaten It's much harder than I realized. During school days I tend to snack rather than have meals but I usually love salads with shrimp, salmon or chicken which I have often. I have lots of caffeine and hot sauce which wasn't surprising! @beh353.bsky.social

This connects a lot to my most recent post because Carbs are often labelled as "bad" for you when in reality your body needs them to function properly and an excessive amount of anything isn't good! Its always important to balance what you eat not cancel out important food groups from your life!
Too much of anything can be bad for you—that’s exactly what too much means...yet we constantly slide from "too much of something is a problem" right into "any of that is toxic!"
Many things that are risky in excess are essential or safe in moderation.
Nutrition isn’t black+white - neither is eating.

A fun fact I learned is because carbohydrates convert to glucose which powers our muscles and brain, they are our body's preferred energy source. When we don't eat enough carbohydrates, our body has to work harder and isn't as efficient at breaking down fat and protein for energy. @beh353 #beh353

This in a way connects to my recent post because so many unreliable health facts have deceived many people including me! Whether its headlines about fake weight loss hacks or headlines about fruits and veggies being bad because of too much sugar all these articles end up feeding the wrong ideas!
"Omg fruit is full of sugar and so bad for you!" Have you considered that it's also full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber? And a fun fact is that our bodies need these nutrients so no, it's not the same as eating something like ice cream. Not that anything is wrong with ice cream.

Headlines can be misleading! Most articles leave out important context making certain things seem healthier than they are.An article can have a headline stating "chocolate can help you lose weight"when in reality they mean eating 80% cocoa dark chocolate with no sugar... Deceiving! @beh353 #beh353
