I hope that people are able to change their minds, and learn new things (otherwise why bother with communicating and teaching) but when they learn they've been shouting nonsense, they should just then go away and be quiet, not keep shouting the new thing they've learned.

I have not researched why a submersible pump is called a sump pump instead of a sub-pump. Unless it's supposed to be just a sump, but nobody knew what that meant so the plumber had to say "it's a pump that you put in a hole in your basement to take out the water...

The sump pump was working in the back part of the basement, but the new structure straightening up the front part of the house caused there to be a little dam keeping water from getting to the sump pump.
