Studying shapes and lighting. The latter still gives me headaches. Doing everything faster -- especially lineart -- feels helpful as it gets me to the tricky parts quicker.

Doing pixel art for a change. Mostly trying to understand shapes. Copying the Octopath style to begin. And getting comfortable with the fact that with-contrast colours look like shite when zoomed in, but fine when zoomed out.

Practising to "read" the main lighting. (Major lit surfaces?) No blending, as it is still too confusing.
I also botched the angle of the right thigh. And the left lower leg I can't even understand on the reference.

A study; abandoned. Trying to do even remotely realistic lighting absolutely breaks my brain at the moment. Will go back to cell shading for a while, focussing on the shape and position of shadows.

Time sure does fly... Had some extraordinarily busy months. Lot of work; lot of shit flying sideways in my personal life. Trying to carve out a few minutes each night to draw some simple studies (left). Also, there's a painting I abandoned months ago (right). Maybe I'll pick it back up some day...
