It didn't really occur to me that we could choose other values for p than 1/2. Your mention of pebble choosing 1/e made me do some research and 1/4 is claimed as more optimal according to analyses done by leveldb and redis. Interesting read about how to analyze skiplists selfboot.cn/en/2024/09/2...
