🔥🔥 New article in PlosOne 🔥🔥

Citation behaviour isn’t a meritocracy.
It’s shaped by social ties and topic overlap.
Let’s rethink how we evaluate research impact.

Louisiana has to build three new natural gas power plants to accommodate the "AI" data center that Meta just crammed through because said center will use *Three Times* as much electricity (and, thus, attendant resources) as the *Entire City Of New Orleans*, every year.

Y'all this isn't sustainable.
La. regulators approve Entergy power plants for Meta’s AI data center
Louisiana Public Service Commissioners voted four to one to approve Entergy’s three new gas plants to power Meta’s largest-ever data center.

"AI is like an army of research assistants!" Actually it's more like a business school prof with 200+ publications, 3 airport bestsellers and a TED talk
I asked it to pull the SSA demographic statistics from the US government. Its web crawler was blocked from accessing the site, but it lied to me and said that it pulled them. When I manually compared the data, I saw it used a simple function to fake it (life expectancy 85, with some noise).
