As an armchair analyst, you surely know that transfer fees, although sexy af, don’t correlate with success as much as spending on wages consistently every year. Whilst transfer spend seem like backing and for some high profile clubs it may be the right strategy, it is mostly a waste.

It sounds like he had good relationship with Adrian Heath. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of gentleman's agreement with him to be the player the team was going to be built around. Another issue might have been the interest he was getting from other teams and the FO not letting him go

The current cba expires in 2028 so the season after that might be the perfect time to switch. also the players are overwhelmingly in favor of the change …

True ... I agree, it is insane. I went to Seattle a week ago and had a flight and a hotel booked for sat and sun in SD but I can't go mon - tue ... oh and the flight cost are twice as much as they were a week ago. it will be easier to watch at home but still annoyed

Agreed but if you are resting for let's say 3 weeks it will take you at least 2 weeks to get up to a fitness level where you can sit on the bench and another few weeks to get back to match fitness
