I used to pick 'em up from the flooding gutters in handfuls.
I'd hold 'em out at my brother and cackle.
I'd fold my tongue back and bite it.
"I've got worms in my mouth! I'm eating them!"
My brother would scream and run to tell mom. He'd get me back by making me eat butter sticks.

6 precious hours went by, my story open in front of me, begging to be edited, but I mostly spent the time looking out the window and wondering, squirting my cat as she shredded the curtains and smushing a tiny jelly rubberduck against my desk so it would stick and pop off with a satisfying squelch.
