another idea was to create specific scenes from the story for other card art, so an example being "Dismember". the card shows a creature being ripped apart or impaled, so an idea I had was to depict when Estinien stabbed Nidhogg in the spine, or the scene with Raubahn losing his arm.

Y'shtola's head. composition would be zoomed into just seeing mostly only her eyes. the idea being that she doesn't see the world normally anymore, but uses her Aether vision to see the world around her.

It ranges depending on the card. A good example of what I am thinking of is for this card. Since the compositional focus is on a characters eyes, and this is specifically for a Y'shtola deck, an idea I had was to have a pitch-dark background with some light etheric energy sort of circling around...

More the second option. simplified backgrounds, more focus on the scene or character in the foreground. if I am looking for a full illustration, it has to be very specific or special, since I know how long and expensive it can be for artists to do.

less a specific style from final fantasy games and more just unique styled art that would fit on a mtg card.

Example artists: Pauline Voss, Dominic Meyer, Wylie Beckert, Winona Nelson, Seb McKinon (I know he is problematic but the art style is still impressive), etc. If I like it, I like it.
