Once, you came upon Traum's highest tor, where the wind whispered a minor tune. There, the gowan flowers were white and the stones were gray and both stole the warmth from your bare feet. A cathedral was built there, and you tiptoed, small as an insect, through the narthex, into the nave, down the aisle. Blood stained your lips, and you fell into the spring that came from that ancient stone upon the chancel. When you looked up at the rose window, the light kissed stained glass. Your craft was obedience. You said the names of gods and how to read their signs. You learned how to dream— And how to drown. I'm sorry. I don't care to go back to this part of the story either, Bar-tholomew. But I so often wonder... Could the rest exist without it?

I'll tell it to you as best I can and promise to be honest in my talebearing. If I'm not, that would be all right. A story is a kind of spectacle, I think. A strange, shimmering display. How you look at it determines its meaning—it is not for me to say if belief inspired by spectacle should be counted as honest.”

Rachel Gillig posted an instagram story of the cover of the manuscript for the knave and the moon and it says “pass pages have landed [side eyes emoji]” and then underneath that she also wrote “this is when the manuscript is formatted the way it will be when it’s printed. i get a PDF and can make superficial changes (switch around words, check for typos, etc)”

it’s hard to be in denial that twp is the end somehow someway {probably horrifically tragic} when she keeps throwing it in our faces 🫩

another bummer, womp womp. i was hopeful for a little cozy fantasy mystery series but with a silly romance plot line tossed in despite the cheesy titles but alas

three pages in a row used “as if” as a description, two of those instances being separated only by a singular sentence *eye twitch*

no seriously i think about this fic at least six times a day 😭
snippet of the ending of an ao3 fic chapter [the fic is semi charmed kinda life by strangedelight] it reads: She hovered at the bottom of Harrow’s staircase for no real reason, grasping the banister and wondering what would happen if she went upstairs instead of leaving. Not a lot, she guessed: there was no sound coming from the loft, no light spilling out from beneath the curtains. Her foot settled on the first step anyway. On the second step she realized that she had no idea what she wanted to say to Harrow if she found her awake. On the fourth step a voice in the forefront of her mind screamed that it was a bad idea, worse than all the other bad ideas she’d had in the last few hours, that there were only so many ways the night could end. On the sixth step she comforted herself with the knowledge that Harrow had to be sleeping by now, but on the seventh she told herself that staring at her while she was unconscious like a creep wasn't going to help her this time. She hesitated on the eighth step. She turned around on the ninth.
