This is a sci-fi cliche that didn't impress me back then enough to remember, but now it hit me hard because for the first time this is something that's real, that's touching my life, because of our fascist government. Anyway, that's the edition I read then, here's the edition I'm reading now.

I'm reading a minor Philip K. Dick novel, Dr. Futurity, that I read in high school as half of an Ace Double. I remember liking it okay, though I'd forgotten everything except a few images. I'm up to page 34, and we're in a society ruled by eugenics, where it's illegal to treat the sick or injured.

The early '70s reprint digests from Ultimate publishing used the original cover art from the pulps. This cover, by the way, illustrates another Zorome story.

For a couple of years in the early '70s, E E Smith's Skylark and Lensman series had what I thought were beautiful watercolor (I think) art by Jack Gaughan, part of what attracted me to this series from the late 1920s.

Here's the early '70s paperback of The Black Star Passes by John W Campbell, an early '30s superscience story, the precursor of space operas.

Here's the '60s cover for Crashing Suns by Edmond Hamilton, a collection of stories that date from 1928 and 1929.

I thought I'd add some pictures to my thread about reading retro sci-fi as a kid in the early '70s. Here's one of the Ace Books collections of the Zorome stories.

The best thing about a Youtuber starting a new Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood reaction series is that it isn't very long before they reach THAT episode. #FMAB

So I'm reading a vintage sci-fi paperback, Planets for Sale, based on short stories from 1943 to 1946 by Edna Mayne Hull (and here co-credited to her better-known husband, A E Van Vogt) and not only does it have a blockchain, called the Registered Circuit, it has particles called "gravitons."

Post the cover of a book written by a woman prior to, oh, let's say 1990.
