Love it

Yes. Always dig deep. So so many layers to be looked at.
January 31, 2024 at 11:58 PM
Yea. Must dig deep into the origin of why x is presenting. Otherwise dx would not be accurate. The whole ‘child being difficult’ is so so wrong. A child who is seen by the adult lens this way is a child communicating sthg.

Quite a common autistic or ND trait to not put people on pedestals :)
January 31, 2024 at 11:54 PM
Yikes. That lens….
January 31, 2024 at 11:54 PM
Absolutely. It is simply a different development and presentation of attachment as is much of development (potentially as it’s so individual) as you say non-linear.
January 31, 2024 at 11:53 PM
The Assessment of attachment of autistics and other neurodivergent humans from these limited categories … attachment differences is now being explored as a way to de-pathologize and better explain attachment for autistics and ND folx
January 31, 2024 at 11:52 PM
Attachment trauma … explain where you’re going with this please. Want to discuss but don’t want to reply in the wrong direction
January 31, 2024 at 11:49 PM
Absolutely it is critical to accurately assess.
January 31, 2024 at 11:48 PM
Antiquated blaming of the primary caregiver is slowly being moved away from by psychological professionals but the hold is strong … medical and pathological models… thank you for starting this convo
January 31, 2024 at 11:47 PM
Absolutely agree. Not much has been published and spread yet about neurodivergent brains and attachment ‘differences’ vs disorders is finally being looked at as has previously been the wrong lens

PDA is essentially a nervous system based disability and the threat response is highly sensitive so if presented with demands and or perceived inequality to challenge to that equality the threat response is kicked off and the amygdala is in control… communication, motivation etc not accessible

Wish I were officially in academia!
January 31, 2024 at 11:35 PM
Yep!
January 31, 2024 at 11:29 PM
Right?! The proprioceptive input is good
January 31, 2024 at 11:28 PM
Kids will refuse what they intuitively know they are capable of — the super sensitive neuro ir like PDA… even more that threat response is triggered.
January 31, 2024 at 11:27 PM
Yeah and beware of the ABA pushers who try to capitalize on our ND kids and run their ‘social groups’ for dnd and Minecraft bleh
January 31, 2024 at 11:25 PM
I feel this
January 31, 2024 at 11:24 PM
Nope
January 31, 2024 at 11:22 PM
Yeah autonomy is the drive … demands and attempts to impose arbitrary hierarchy… yeah, no.
January 31, 2024 at 11:22 PM
‘Mind reading’ - the PDAer and autistic does tend to be super intuitive and highly sensitive and perceptive. Agreed!
January 31, 2024 at 11:21 PM
Another huge issue with behaviourism and autism and PDA especially is that it is only able (and also only concerned with) the outward presentation. No diversity into the underlying origin of what presents. Major major flaw in design.
