"But we must compete with the oth-"

That's just it. You don't. You are THE public broadcaster. No other body shares your mission. Why add to the noise?

The BBC has an opportunity to say "you've heard all the breathless gossip - tune in at 6pm for the facts". To bring light rather than heat.

But I am still not convinced that the new amazonian Bond will work. Maybe I will just see it as a finished series that ended 2021. What comes after I might consider as homages. That would probably make it easier for me to enjoy them.

I have been (privately) arguing for a retro reboot for years. I enjoyed the Craig films, but a retro reboot would leave so much more creative freedom. And Bond is very much a product of a very specific era. A retro reboot could be fun.

I have questions starting with the headline. „The writers just revealed a twist that leaves them with a massive headache“. They just „revealed“ the twist at the end of the last movie (2021)? Hardly possible. They „revealed“ that it gives them a headache? Well, thank you, Captain Obvious…

Das ist noch okay. Ich bin auch ungefähr da. Vermutlich, weil ich temperamentsbedingt den Regler selten bis zum Anschlag aufgezogen habe. Der Bereich links vom Gelben scheint mir tolerierbar.

When someone says „not left, not right“, you don’t need to read on. It is invariably bullshit.

Haha! I admit Bruckner is very, erm… „germanic“ (i.e. loud, unsubtle, effective in a very obvious way). But sometimes, on rare occasions I need my bit of direct assault. And the Bruckner (or Henry Rollins) works quite reliably.

You are being a bit harsh on Bruckner! ;) But I haven’t heard of Jean Cras before and I quite like what I am listening to right now (Cinq poèmes intimes). So thank you!

Civilisation is broken. Definitely.

Don’t worry. There will be no election for him to run in.

Two scenarios are possible:
1. there will be no elections
2. there will be elections soviet style. With 90 percent for the general secretary and chairman of the presidium of the supreme Trumpet.
All hail the king!

That is why I said „democratic forces“ and not „democrats“. They are unfortunately completely useless. And they were complicit in pushing the narrative of the republicans. Obama and Clinton pushed hardcore capitalism, too. The only difference was that they stuck to the rules.

People would have to be brought to trial, the constitution would have to be amended, the electoral process changed to one were every vote counts the same. But first the democratic forces will have to seriously consider, that the MAGAs won’t leave as a result of elections.
October 22, 2025 at 2:55 PM
„For life“ only if the democratic forces in the US insist on sticking to the rules the MAGAs keep ignoring. Which would be naive, dangerous and ridiculous. If the MAGAs ever leave the White House, the whole book will have to be re-written. A new start would be required.

Of course I should have stopped earlier but this feeling of „almost there“ kept me going. It is quite frustrating. I hope, but very much doubt, that I have laid down the groundwork today and that it will go swimmingly when I have to update the charts. I know that is naive.
October 21, 2025 at 4:06 PM
I have spent 6 fucking hours today trying to get that thing to draw a simple chart of my blood pressure and pulse. It should have taken two minutes. I could have calculated and drawn it by hand in an hour. Instead I was stuck at „almost there“ for a whole workday.
