The Silmarillion *before* LOTR, they say. To me, that means it's the pocket version to annotate on before getting the pristine deluxe ones to love and admire (as well as read, of course) later 📚🖤

I never thought I'd actually enjoy a fantasy novel - let alone a whole series.
I came across The Hobbit & thought "I'll give it a shot". 20 pages in & I realized I needed to own a copy. SO GOOD!
I have now ordered the whole LOTR series + The Silmarillion.
I'm hooked & I'm not sorry!
