What tools do people take for granted? Trying to think of some, also curious how people think they were initially received. I think computers are taken for granted now, gps as well, even calculators. Share some that you can think of.

I see a lot of people advocating for Roll20 over Foundry, and I just don't get it, the UI of Roll20 is static and a pain to use. Whereas foundry is not only 1 purchase, but very customizable thanks to the mods. If you use Roll20 primarily, have you used foundry and what are the benefits of Roll20?

My first Homebrew PF2E rule. All, and I mean all enemies have a Reaction to Flee. It interrupts combat, bringing it to a narrative closure on occasion. Some enemies still fight to the death, or still get killed as they would use the reaction. This does help with the below x HP they flee.

The highlight is their discussion of note takers. There are different notes takers. Like one person only keeps track of NPCs, another on the recap, another on party stash. I think it's great to get players involved in the maintaining workload.

I keep seeing series and tv shows ruining their narrative or at least making it confusing by introducing alternate universes. Allowing the series to recreate "canon" events because it is a multiverse. At the same time this lessening the impact of the main canon, because of infinite iterations.

Do magic items take away from the ttrpg, it encourages focus on items, also the predetermined magic item create an unofficial restriction for some players and tables. Obv. You can work around it with experience but rules for making your own as a GM, I think are more valuable and story progression

Anyone have some good Romcom DND adventures. Specifically not about anyone in the party but two NPCs? Trying to think how I could implement it either as a side gag or a major plot.

One of the greatest feelings is coming back to a ttrpg after a 2 week break with all of your groups. Make sure to let your party know you appreciate it.

Found this interesting video on how to make pf2e roguelike. I definitely want to try it out soon :)

As we are in the holidays, do you have a favourite game for themed one shots? I feel an interesting one to add a holiday theme to would be 10 candles.

For me, digital tools are helpful for getting players to the meat and potatoes of an RPG. Whenever we use physical anything the time to setup and prep the maps etc. ends up as irl discussions and takes away from my enjoyment of the game. I prefer the irl discussions either before or after. #ttrpg

If you see this, post a game character and pass it on.

How many toys are too many for ttrps? We have minis. Legos, tvs, multiple software, digital and physical maps, and we just got hardware to interact with the software to track physical minis XD #ttrpg

Should more indie RPGs be encouraging their own type of dice mixed in? Cosmere RPG has a plot dice unique to it. I think in the past this didn't work due to the obscurity of the hobby and wonder how it will do now 🤔

Why are the gimmick characters some of our favorites? All of the characters I've loved playing are the characters where I put halfhearted, or went absolutely whimsical. Like my pompous skeleton cleric or my *high* druid or my poisonous dancing mushroom.

How often do you end a combat early? I had an instance where the monsters had to crit to get a normal hit (4 levels lower and easily sustainable frightened), but had so many hit points it would have taken too long. I let players know, but still felt weird in a prewritten. #pf2e #trpg

While dedicated to DND 5e, Keith Amman's books the mobsters know what they are doing are invaluable strategies to make encounters more interesting. I highly recommend.

While I have no boundaries in the games I play in, safety rules exist for a reason. It's not too everyone's taste but with new groups safety tools are important

At your gaming tables, which many rules do you ignore?
I tend to not use weight, or ammunition (unless it can be automated). Imo, a good session is one where you don't have to reference your sheet.

What is one rule from another ttrpg that you use in your other games or some variation of it? I like to use the party roles from Ryuutama in my 5e and Pathfinder games.

Campaign idea 5: World hopping, each player is from a different fantasy world, but some event happened that brought them together, while investigating you keep swapping fantasy worlds and teleporting at random.

Campaign idea 4: The party is taken in by a guild, creating a monster of the week campaign.
