It looks like not a technology thing but a biology thing. This is how we function. The goal is to max energy efficiency. Our brain is not energy efficient at all. The less you use your brain the more energy efficient you are. It is not laziness or lack of education or something.

Ten years ago I forced myself to learn how to open and edit files, how to save and exit, how to create a vertical split screen and have two open files in parallel, copy, cut and paste rows on Vi and Vim. This is the most valuable knowledge. Because vi exists in pretty much every linux installation.
