At every turn, President Trump has tried to extort American universities to do his bidding. His new "Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education" is the next phase of his plan.

Sign this petition and tell the University of Alaska Board of Regents not to sign this bogus contract!
Reject the Federal Higher Education Compact to Maintain UA’s Autonomy
The new federal Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education mandates that universities surrender their autonomy and give control of key authorities, such as hiring, curriculum, research, and student enrollment to the U.S. Federal Government, which is contrary to the Alaska Constitution. As stakeholders in the University of Alaska system, we are writing to preemptively request that the UA Board of Regents reject the opportunity to sign the Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education.

#ThrowbackThursday to the AFA-Alaska picketline, where flight attendants stood shoulder-to-shoulder and fought for a fair contract! Their efforts led to a record contract that included higher wages and quality-of-life provisions. Collective bargaining works! #UnionStrong #1u

Medicaid cuts would be disastrous for rural communities. Patients in Alaska are asking if they’ll lose the care they rely on.

Shannon Davenport, President of the Alaska Nurses Association, is speaking out: leaders in Washington must protect patients & keep the govt open.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our film screening of @americandreamdoc! If we stand together, we can change the rules of the economy to benefit working people. The billionaire class only wins when we are divided. ✊

Let us know what labor movie you want us to screen next year in the comments.

A union is the #1 tool workers have to level the playing field.

When fewer workers are in a union, the billionaire class puts more and more money in their own pockets.

The only effective answer to organized greed is organized labor! ✊

Since the 1970s, there has been a significant increase in the gap between worker productivity and wages. In other words, workers are becoming more efficient and not benefiting from the rise in their productivity.

Where is that created wealth going? The top 1%. #LaborMonth2025 #UnionStrong #1u

Right-to-work laws are about as anti-worker as they come. They do nothing but lower wages and jeopardize the safety of workers.

Don't let the flashy messaging fool you, "Right-to-Work" means the "Right-to-Work-For-Less." #LaborMonth2025 #1u

The Juneau School District claims it "closed" its afterschool program. However, it is also continuing the program under the same name, with the same hours, same price, and same locations, using a third-party contractor. All while claiming that it is not contracting out. 🤔
