My perpetual mood: I’m EXHAUSTED by new lows

I continue to believe Gawker is/was critical to where we are today: its tone, attitude, approach + the way it died + the bastardization of the network/sister sites.

Sincerely, cultural skeleton keys for today’s shitstorm:

Gawker
Gamergate
Laguna Beach/The Hills
Vanderpump Rules

It's a theme/story I've been seeing around a lot lately: women basically discovering that, if you don't have to live with a man -- cleaning up after him, remembering his appointments, listening to his whining -- there's really no advantage to it.

You got wormfished by a guy who eats roadkill and looks like fucking Krang. A guy you were tasked with covering neutrally, for half a milly a year, while he ran for fucking president on an "every disabled person should die" ticket.

Well, now your career is back, and so is measles. Well done.

In some ways you’ve just described part of the premise of Outlander, the Starz series (based on decades old and on-going books). Time travelers from a “present” day (post WWII, 1960s, 1980s) dropped randomly into the past: 1740-50s Scotland/ France/England; 1770-80s Scotland/Caribbean/USA Rev War.
