So I’m still not completely sold on the increased “chaos” of Kirby Air Riders’ City Trial mode.

I also think it’s going to need some rebalancing in the future with nerfs to the Tanks and Chariots. If you grab one you’re basically KO’ing everyone and stealing their boosts.

Okay, Kirby Air Riders’ “vs. Boss” mode is way better than the original. Crazy fun.

Holy what? The Bulk Star is actually VIABLE in Kirby Air Riders? How?!?

I decided I needed a break from my usual fare... So here I am reading my first visual novel since I read Steins;Gate 0 many years ago.

And whoo boy, did I pick a good one - Witch On The Holy Night, aka "Mahoyo". I am HOOKED and the plot is only just starting to ramp up. (Screenshot lacks context)

Just going to leave this here with zero context other than:

"Nasu-verse."

The art direction in Kirby Air Riders is STRONG. Like the original, there’s “just enough” of a lean in the photorealistic direction to elevate the visuals without leaving the “Kirby bubble”. And it all looks AMAZING in motion.

One HUGE change is that, rather than just scatter on the field, when you damage another player, the patches (boosts) they lose get sent directly to you.

It actively discourages defensive play, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.

More Kirby Air Riders: City Trial rewards very, VERY aggressive play. Machines are much more plentiful so you’re more easily able to swap out before you crash than in the original.

Why yes, I am still good at deviously placing motion sensor bombs, thank you very much.

(Please do not take that out of context.)

First impressions of Kirby Air Riders: This is WAY more “intense” than Air Ride on GameCube and it’s so much better for it.

The original feels downright tame by comparison.

So I finished the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC last night, and I’m… whelmed?

“Whelmed” is relative of course, because XC3 is far and away my favorite in the series. But the world building that I have typically praised the series for is starting to go off the rails. Lots of loose ends too.

Local elections matter! Americans, go vote!

(And PLEASE PLEASE go vote if you’re in PA, NJ, VA, or NYC.)

I relate to Rex so much here.

Game #19 of 2025 completed: Curse Crackers: For Whom The Belle Toils!

I was sold on this game's art direction, but it's a very solid retro-inspired platformer all things considered. A fun, concise story mode for folks who want "that", and endless secrets for folks who want "more".

So one thing that this game has "re-confirmed" for me is that in 2D platformers, I absolutely love precision platforming sections and absolutely hate bosses. I think that's why I like Celeste so much.

Wait, how outdated is this meme now, anyway?

First time playing two games concurrently in a while... I'm also diving into 2022 indie game Curse Crackers! I'm just getting into it but I absolutely love the colorful, deliciously crunchy Game Boy Color influence.

Woah! I found that guy!

Today in my mailbox: Nichijou Volume 12!

Cash grab? Capitalizing on anime popularity? Guess what, I don’t care, it’s more Nichijou and I will CONSUME it.

So it’s four small books inside one slipcover. One book each for background art, character designs, storyboards, and concept illustrations. Very good package all things considered.

Did someone say… subtext?

Xenoblade 3 is my #2 game I played this year so far… Let’s see if this pushes it to #1.
October 27, 2025 at 10:56 PM
Uh oh. I'm dangerously close to getting into the Fate series with this.

Meanwhile, if you want to complete Gen 3's primarily in FRLG, you always need Pokemon XD, and then either Emerald OR both Ruby and Sapphire.
