In this coalition you may find yourself standing side-by-side with someone with whom you disagree on everything but the one thing that brought you together.

As our peaceful bodies fill the streets in the coming days, we will have to accept that some of our flesh will be pierced and blood will be spilled.

We must, under all circumstances/instances, respond with non-violence.

We will have to practice instant and forever forgiveness.

The politics of inevitability
got us here.

The politics of eternity
is trying to keep us here.

The politics of _______
guides us out & onward?

Question: does this text add to the findability of your content? If not, it should, Bluesky.

A guest in Lucerne and Zurich right now, thinking about Switzerland’s direct democracy.

If America rebuilt its democracy, could a Swiss-style system work for us?

Referendums, citizen initiatives, frequent voting, local autonomy—what parts might scale to our population, and what wouldn’t?

The anti-CEO energy should have showed up on November 4th and spoke non-violently 🙈🫵🏽

Some will choose violence. That will get us nowhere but dead 💀🥀

I choose long-term cultural, political, economic reform, with short term action: organizing, then voting at the ballot box and cash register 🫱🏽‍🫲🏿🗳️🛒

Almost done with this book. On Chapter 28. I was going to post more summaries but I'm too busy reading 😄

One interesting thing @hcrichardson.bsky.social reinforced in my thoughts of Lincoln: he was woke in the 19th century.

Some would say Wide Awake.

Can any cause be so great it's worth lying for?

For a couple months now I keep asking myself this question.

To me, the answer is always NO.

I don't even lie to my children about anything, even if it "protects" them.

The protection is short term and truth still exists.

The lie is forever.

When oppressive authority is removed, my hope is for the emergence of a citizen-led civil society aligned with the well-being, freedom, equity, and happiness of all it's people (and nature).

Is this the ideal pursuit, or is the best answer whatever the people of the region most want and need?

In the inevitable chaos that we are about to experience, we may be able to do our best work around making sure it is reimagined & then rebuilt with the principles and values we hold.

Principles and Values that we stand on but that are reshapable as we grow and learn.

Feels like support for Trump—votes, money, time, energy, even tolerance of him—is to accelerate something(s).

Unconscious for many, very conscious for a few.
