Just asked my mom if I can swap cheese types on her casserole recipe. And then I thought, "One day, I'm going to miss being able to ask her random questions like this." The internet is fine, but the wisdom and experience of moms (and mom figures) is irreplaceable.

We really only do gifts at one holiday family gathering, and fortunately that crowd operates from lists. On mine this year: books and more books, a water pump for my cat fountain, The Good Place on blu-ray, French roast coffee, 3 different versions of Vaseline Lip Therapy, + a migraine relief hat.

Many times, I'm like, "That sounds like a problem for Future AJ."

Sometimes, I'm like, "Girrrrl, lemme help you out so you don't have to worry about this."

(And a handful of times, Future AJ thanks Present AJ in real time. Yes, I was an only child for most of my life. What of it?)

Honestly, I'm surprised I could wait until November 1 for this beacon of nostalgic comfort.

I love watching a movie and then looking at posts about it on Reddit. No sarcasm, I seriously do. Sometimes people's takes are more interesting than the film itself.

Side note: finally saw Weapons.

Seven years ago, I was presenting about Twitter to a group of aspiring social media professionals. Feels like over a decade, tbh. Vegan Tanksgibbin Cat was on my title slide. I probably had at least five more lolcats peppered throughout.

The more organizations put forced AI into their websites and tools, the more likely I am to avoid using them. No, I don't want to ask Gemini. No, I don't need Rufus to help me find stuff on Amazon. No, I don't want Copilot "teaching" me how to be a "better" writer.

Flanagan is quickly becoming my favorite Hollywood homie. He sounds like an all-around solid dude.

Hardcore fighting the urge to put up some Christmas decorations because it's a dreary fall day, the job market continues to be a big ol' stinker, and all of this *arms gesture* continues. We need some cheerful pretty lights, damn it!

Do you have a lifetime album? A blip of music that came along at just the right time and struck a chord with you (no pun intended) that still strikes a chord today? A collection of songs that feels like it "gets" you?

Thread. 👇 Also, consider getting tested if you've been vaccinated and are concerned about waning immunity. I've seen plenty of folks say they had their MMR immunity checked via blood test by a healthcare professional to be surprised by a lack of or even NO immunity to the M, other M, or R.
In 2025, we are losing our measles-free status, just 25 years after we eliminated measles from the US because of vaccines.

It’s not because our sanitation systems have been eliminated.

It’s because people aren’t getting vaccinated.

I normally don't comment on celebrity deaths but Diane Keaton?! Jesus, c'mon! 😭 Watching The Family Stone (my annual holiday tradition) is going to hit a whole lot different this year.

Welp. It's happened. My hellion cat has figured out how to open doors. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to install child locks or replace the lever-style with knobs.

Nudge: It might be a good idea, if you are able, to add some extra essentials and shelf-stable staples to your grocery cart next go. You know, an extra pack of toilet paper and some soap here, spare cans of beans and a bag of rice there. Just in case, ahead of winter illness and potential chaos.

I just finished rewatching The Midnight Club, and now I'm pissed all over again that Netflix pulled the plug after season one when it was originally planned for two seasons to wrap up the initial story lines (could have kept going beyond the second season but that is neither here nor there).

Jaws is one of those movies that just gets better with age. It still thrills and chills, with its iconic score and master-class cinematography. Never thought I'd like a film about three dudes going fishing so much!
