Current ranking of all the albums I've listened to so far this year. Looking for some recommendations. Want to finish 52 albums I've not heard before, before the end of the year. I've completed 47.

Had an amazing weekend in Chicago with my wonderful girlfriend! We had a lot of great food, went on a riverboat tour, and saw The Decemberists!

I've been making progress on my New Year's goal of listening to an album a week: currently at 3/52. I'm open to suggestions on future albums. Here are some of my favorite albums if anyone wants to give suggestions.

No one cartoons quite like Chris Ware. So much of what I enjoy from this is purely the coloring and illustrations. There's something soothing and comforting about Ware's style that clashes with the anxiety, despair, and embarassment derived from his stories. It makes for an unforgettable experience.

Next is Flex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery. It's probably my favorite work by Grant Morrison. So much of what he has to say about comics is packed within these four issues: his love, anguish, anger, and hope.

Next up: Last Day in Vietnam. Eisner could do so much, with so little. An absolute master of sequential storytelling. He will rip your heart out without a single line of narration or dialog: he lets his art do all the talking. It is a great reminder of what can be done in a visual medium.

I'll start with my favorite: Fury: My War Gone By. Garth is at his best, featuring fully realized characters with unmatched sincerity and a biting critique. Parlov's art with Lougridge's colors is some of the best you'll ever see. It's as close to perfect as a comic can get.

This is what I'm currently feeling (the top 4 have been the same for almost a decade. Everything else is subject to change).

With my birthday being Monday and not being able to see my girlfriend then, she decided to use our entire weekend together to spoil me. She took me to an arcade, a comic shop, bought me presents, watched one of my favorite movies, and more. I'm unbelievably lucky!!!

Had tw awesome weekends in a row! Last weekend I got to hang out with @stevebaxi.bsky.social and attend Animazement (jealous of his DD poster!). This weekend I got to spend time with my lovely girlfriend as we saw several of her favorite artists in Columbus!

post a PERFECT album from the 90s that isn’t nirvana or pearl jam or soundgarden or alice in chains

I could pick 10 albums before ever touching one of the "grunge" bands. But none come close to this:
