If the Cleveland Browns were a public school their report card would be garbage and Republicans would be arguing whether they deserve funding at all.

Ohio’s schools need at least $666M to be fully funded—closer to $800M with inflation. But the GOP’s budget only gives $226M and calls it a win. It’s not. 90% of Ohio’s kids will feel the squeeze while local communities are stuck paying the price. Our kids deserve better.
Ohio House Republicans have announced their version of the state budget, dramatically slashing K-12 public school funding after months of uncertainty. The Fair School Funding Plan calls for a $666 million increase, but they propose only about $226 million.

Diversity isn’t the threat — this racist bullshit is. I'm tired of lawmakers using students and teachers as pawns in their idiotic culture wars. S.B. 113 would ban DEI in public schools to protect...who exactly? Maybe Ohio Republicans should try fixing underfunded schools instead. Just a thought.

It’s no wonder students and families want out of a state that values culture wars over their future. The Higher Ed Destruction Act is a Republican attack on Ohioans—trading our future for cheap political points. Call your reps.

Let’s call this what it is: fucking cruel.

Cutting $3B from school meals means 280,000 kids in Ohio will go hungry. That’s 280,000 futures put at risk. Children who’ll sit in class with empty stomachs, already struggling to keep up.

This isn't policy. It's an attack on kids.

Speaker Huffman appointed Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthur—a homeschooled, non-college grad—to chair the House Ed Committee. Remember her? She’s the one who thinks the Holocaust should be taught from the Nazis' perspective. An “uninformed” person and “inappropriate” choice.

Doubling down. Smh

“The speaker wants to slash at least $650 million in public education spending in this General Assembly's budget.”

Pathetic leadership and a travesty for Ohio’s public school students & teachers.

This backlash isn’t just warranted—it’s a call for accountability. Matt Huffman wants to defund public education. Instead of supporting the 90% of Ohio’s children in public schools, he's funneling $1B taxpayer dollars into private/religious schools with no accountability.

Let’s keep on them!

NEW: Arizona does not vet new voucher schools. Not even if the school or the online school “provider” has already failed, or was founded yesterday, or is operating out of a strip mall, or offers just a half hour of instruction per morning.

We’ve lost a man who truly embodied the best of America. President Carter’s life was a testament to service, compassion, & faith. He showed us that leadership is about lifting others & making the world better for everyone. We need more leaders like him, & I’m grateful for the example he set.

Private schools keep $1 BILLION of taxpayer money with ZERO accountability. No reporting on where that cash goes, no testing to see if kids are actually learning. This is a win for private school lobbyists and a slap in the face to every Ohioan paying the bill!

Ohio's Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, goes all-in on axing the U.S. Dept. of Education. Closing it would rip away $18 billion per year from high-poverty schools, $15 billion from special education, $28 billion from Pell Grants to help high-performing kids in poverty go to college.
November 20, 2024 at 2:38 PM
In Ohio, 13.4% of people live in poverty, and 17.7% of our children do too. We rank 44th in health, property taxes have risen 23%, and rent is at an all-time high, while wages haven’t kept up. Too many are working two or three jobs just to get by.

But these are the priorities of the Ohio GOP.
November 16, 2024 at 5:24 PM
Again, Ohio Republicans are targeting vulnerable communities with harmful, divisive policies. This isn’t about protecting anyone - it’s about politicizing people’s lives for the sake of division. Plain & simple.
